The Conejos Superfly Tournament 2022, hosted by Conejos River Anglers https://www.conejosriveranglers.com/home was an incredible opportunity to test our skills on a new river in the southwest region of Colorado! The beautiful geology, thick pine, overhanging willows and feet of snow kept us eager to see what was around each river bend. The tournament started out at the Conejos Anglers shop in Antonito.
On the morning of April 1st, all 20 teams gathered at the Conejos River Anglers shop and drew for their specific beat (section of water). We drew beat #16 and marched our way down to a beautiful section of the Conejos river. At the end of the time given for the tournament, we came up short of our desired catch once we returned to the shop.
A big thanks to the shop and their work in providing an incredibly organized competition to support local river restoration! We hope to return next year and make it to the second round against some of Colorado’s best anglers.
