South Platte River:

Starting from the confluence of the Middle Fork and the South Fork, the South Platte River weaves 50 miles to the front range where it flows into Waterton Canyon and makes its way into Denver. With the majestic granite boulders that line the river bottom and sides and the dense pondersa pine and douglas fir trees, the South Platte river is not only filled with an incredibly healthy population of brown and rainbow trout, its views are breathtaking and unforgettable!

Arkansas River:

Out of the many spectacular destinations, the Arkansas River in CO is known for is immensity and beautiful changes as it weaves down from the headwaters near Leadville, CO. Compared to much of the South Platte river which is a tailwater below the numerous resevoirs, this section is classified as a freestone river. It passes through the amazing towns of Buena Vista and Salida and then turns east to eventually land in Pueblo State Park resevoir. Flowing out of the Pueblo Resevoir just west of I-25, the Arkansas River is beautiful in all seasons. It holds trophy brown and rainbow trout and the occasional sucker fish that will surprise you and put up long winded fights! The banks are lined with tremendous overhanging cottonwoods and the wide meandering river has beautiful scenery around every bend.

Big Thompson River:

Whenever I hear about Colorado, Estes Park is ringing in my ear. The Big Thompson runs straight through this area and has all the charm that Colorado has to offer. Whether your looking to have a corporate outing, a bachelor/bachelorette party or just a large group of friends, this is a perfect river to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and the lake is a great location to have 360 views of the rockies. As the Big Thompson River flows out of Lake Estes, it winds dow the Big Thompson Canyon with sharp turns and waterfalls abounding till it joins the South Platte river out near Garden City.

North Fork Cache La Poudre

The sound of a Colorado freestone or tailwater section always brings me peace. Along the front range of Colorado, there are so many rivers to enjoy! When it comes to my top 5 locations, the North Fork of the Poudre river always has my wheels going 80mph before the sun is up. Set amongst beautiful willows and a serene park, this river branches off from the main Cache La Poudre and collects in the Seaman resevior. Just like many of the other tailwaters in CO, this river is consistently full of beautiful rainbows and browns ready to eat your fly.
